This Content and Recording Policy is an operational document of One Button Studio. It is not a policy of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and has not been issued or approved by the University. Where applicable law or a binding KNUST requirement says something different, that law or requirement applies.

One Button Studio is a place for making content. This policy sets out what may be recorded here and who is responsible for it.

1.Your responsibility for your content

You are responsible for the content you create in the studio, for how it is used and for making sure it is lawful. The studio does not review or approve customers' content, and providing the space and equipment does not make the studio the publisher of it.

2.Content that is not allowed

The studio must not be used to create content that involves:

  • illegal activity;
  • fraud;
  • threats or harassment;
  • hate speech;
  • defamation;
  • sexual exploitation;
  • sexual content made or shared without the consent of the people shown;
  • the exploitation of minors;
  • abuse;
  • recording a person without the permission that is needed;
  • infringement of another person's intellectual property;
  • impersonation;
  • a false suggestion that the content represents KNUST, CARISCA or One Button Studio.

This list is not exhaustive.

3.Refusing or ending a session

The studio may refuse a booking, or pause or end a session, where the activity presents a reasonable legal, safety, reputational or institutional risk. Staff do not need to prove that a law has been broken before doing so.

4.Using the names of KNUST, {{studio.parentOrg}} and the studio

Recording at One Button Studio does not make your content an official communication of the University or of the studio.

You must not state or imply that your personal content, business, product, political position, commercial endorsement or any other communication represents the official position of:

  • KNUST;
  • CARISCA;
  • the KNUST School of Business;
  • One Button Studio;

unless you have the appropriate authorisation to do so.

You must not use KNUST, CARISCA or studio names, logos or other branding in a way that is misleading. You may say, factually, where your content was recorded.

KNUST sets its own requirements on the use of its name and branding and on the use of its ICT facilities. Those requirements apply where relevant.

5.Recording other people

Before you record anyone, you must have the permission that is needed.

For interviews, podcasts, photographs and videos involving people who can be identified, each person should understand:

  • that they are being recorded;
  • what the recording is for;
  • where and how it will be used.

The studio provides a Participant Release and Recording Consent form that you can use. For some bookings the studio may require the form to be completed before the session.

At checkout you may be asked to confirm that you have obtained the necessary permissions. You remain responsible for those permissions whether or not you are asked.

Content the studio helps to produce

Where One Button Studio is directly involved in producing content, for example by providing an operator, editing or full production, the studio keeps a record of the consent given by each participant before the content is produced or released.

6.People under 18

Extra care is required where a person under 18 is recorded or photographed.

  • A parent or guardian must give consent before a minor is recorded.
  • A responsible adult must be present with the minor during the session.
  • Applicable safeguarding requirements must be followed, including KNUST's safeguarding requirements.
  • No member of staff and no customer may set aside these requirements.
  • Where there is any uncertainty, the session must be referred to the studio manager before it goes ahead.

7.Intellectual property

Your content

As a general rule, you keep ownership of the content you create in the studio. This is subject to any agreement you have made, the rights of other people, and applicable KNUST policies.

Material that belongs to others

You must have permission to use any third-party material in your content, including:

  • music;
  • images;
  • video and third-party footage;
  • logos;
  • fonts;
  • software;
  • recordings;
  • any other copyrighted material.

What a booking does not give you

Booking the studio does not transfer to you any ownership of, or rights in, studio equipment, KNUST property, CARISCA property or the intellectual property of any third party.

Work connected with KNUST

Where content is created as part of KNUST research, employment, commissioned work, sponsored research or another institutional activity, KNUST's rules and any related agreements may determine who owns it. KNUST maintains an Intellectual Property (IP) Policy, published on its University Policies page.
